University of Florida Launches Online Master’s in Economics with a Concentration in Econometric and Data Analysis

Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Florida Department of Economics is proud to announce the launch of its new online Master of Arts in Economics with a Concentration in Econometric and Data Analysis. This one-year program offers working professionals an affordable, accessible pathway to earn a graduate degree both in Florida and beyond. Admissions are open now for the inaugural Fall 2025 cohort.

“Our residential master’s program in Gainesville has been a great success, and I am thrilled to expand this opportunity to students around Florida, the nation, and the globe,” said Program Director and Department Chair Dr. Thomas Knight. “This new program will unlock professional opportunities for a new population of students, from recent bachelor’s graduates to working parents. They will build highly employable skills and earn an in-demand credential from one of the nation’s best universities.”

The program is delivered fully online for maximum flexibility. Courses are taught by the same distinguished UF faculty who lead the on-campus program, ensuring that students receive the same high-quality instruction and guidance regardless of location. The curriculum covers critical areas including microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis, machine learning, econometrics, and data analytics, providing a comprehensive understanding of economic principles. Students will apply economic theory to real-world challenges, equipping them with the analytical skills and hands-on experience essential for career success.

“What sets us apart in the market is that we are designed for working professionals and students with other competing demands on their time,” Knight added. “Every course has been developed with this flexibility front and center. Students can complete coursework any time of day or day of the week.”
